Connect Douglas is a commuter-oriented program that operates work-trip vanpools, offers transportation assistance to senior adults and disabled individuals, provides carpool-matching assistance, builds and maintains commuter facilities and participates in transit and public transportation planning and marketing. Connect Douglas has been serving Douglas County commuters since 1986 as Douglas County Rideshare.

To better connect residents with their local community and MARTA lines throughout Metro Atlanta, Connect Douglas thoughtfully combined all of the area's Xpress shuttle, Rideshare and other services offered by the County's active Multi-Modal Transportation Division with one newly branded service.

 

Director Gary Watson explains the mission of Connect Douglas is to "connect area residents to all the places they need to go, such as the doctor, pharmacy, grocery store, work and business." 

 

As demand for transportation, connectivity, and accessibility in Douglas County continued to grow, the Board of Commissioners planned a major expansion and renovation of the driver training facilities at the Journey Campus in Douglasville.

 

Headley Construction constructed the 6,000 square foot addition, aligning all things transportation in Douglas County. A spacious new training facility blends seamlessly with the pre-existing structure. It houses a training garage with a driving simulator, administrative spaces, lecture hall and gathering areas.
