Celebrating Women in Construction Week #WIC2022

This March, we’re celebrating NAWIC's Women in Construction Week to highlight our employees, partners, and others who play critically important roles in Georgia’s construction industry. The impact of women builders and tradeswomen cannot be understated, thanks to the unique talents, skills and experiences that benefit organizations like Headley Construction every day.

Underrepresentation still looms large in our industry, despite hundreds of available architecture, engineering, and construction jobs in Georgia. Although they represent nearly half of the total U.S. workforce, women make up just 10% of construction industry workers. Only 17% of registered architects are women. The numbers are even worse for female engineers. Meanwhile, with women earning 99.1% compared to men, the pay gap in construction is actually the lowest of any U.S. industry.

The theme for this year’s WIC Week, “Envision Equity”, is focused on raising awareness of opportunities for women to play a wide range of roles in the industry, from tradeswomen to project managers to administrative positions and business owners. We spoke to several women about their experiences in the construction industry for this insightful article in Newnan Coweta Magazine, and will be sharing their responses throughout the week.

If you or someone you know is interested in building a construction career, please reach out to us today.
